This studio is one of the most valuable, life-changing classes I have ever participated in. Angela Stockman runs it for any adolescents interested in writing. In this studio, I’ve met many of my good friends. We learn valuable writing techniques, how to get published, participate in fun activities, and just enjoy writing in the summer!
Some things we’ve done:
♥hung out in the woods near a stream
♥gave warm/cool feedback
♥scavenged for interesting natural items to spark our imaginations
♥learned how to write blogs
♥watched YouTube videos
♥found out ways to help with community service
♥learned stop motion, digital storytelling
♥participated in coffeehouses and open houses
♥made tee shirts with literature quotes
♥learned the Writer’s Dispositions…
… and that’s just a little part of it!
Some words about me from Angela; “Sarah will be a sophomore at _______ High School this fall. Sarah is also a NeXt correspondent and published author. As one of the more senior members of our Studio, Sarah consistently extends herself to other writers, supporting their work, providing ideas, and building friendships as she goes. I know that our young writers will love working with her!” I only hope I can live up to her expectations well enough!
The writing studio is a wonderful thing. I almost feel like it’s part of my second home now. You just get this vibe… and the creativity starts. I hope you find a place just like Studio someday, yourself, even if you don’t like writing. If you have a place like this to escape to, you’ll be so much happier in the future!
